Dale Shaw

Dale Shaw’s career as an accomplished driver and expert car builder is equally matched by his outspoken nature and ability to get a reaction from spectators and his fellow competitors over the years. He has won at virtually every level of New England racing.

He started out at the age of 17 in 1981, scoring his first win in the Street Stock class at Oxford Plains Speedway. He quickly moved up the ranks to race amongst the best Late Model and Pro Stock teams in the northeast.

Shaw was a mainstay in the NASCAR Busch North Series since its debut in 1987 through 2005. He has 19 career wins in the series, including at least one in 13 of the series first 16 seasons. Ironically enough, it was one of those seasons when he didn’t visit victory lane (1994) when he was crowned Series Champion after scoring 16 Top 10’s and 10 Top 5’s across the 20 race schedule that year.

He would later run the Pro All Star Series North circuit where he won the first ever race held at Lee USA Speedway in May of 2001. A memorable moment for Shaw came on September 16, 2006 when he won the PASS 150 at White Mountain Motorsports Park on the same day his 16 year old son D.J. Shaw won the track’s Late Model Championship as a rookie.

Other New England tracks where Shaw has also won races include Beech Ridge Speedway (ME), Monadnock Speedway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NH), Thunder Road Speedbowl (VT), Seekonk Speedway (MA) and Stafford Speedway (CT).

Since the 1980’s, he has operated Dale Shaw Race Cars in Conway, N.H and his customer list over the years reads like a who’s who of successful New England drivers. While there’s no accurate way to count the amount of victories & championships the cars he has built has accumulated over the years, it’s safe to assume that virtually track & series in New England and eastern Canada has seen a Dale Shaw built car visit victory lane.
