Known as “The Springfield Rifle”, Jerry Humiston’s racing career began in the early 1950’s and within a few years became the Modified Champion at Riverside Park Speedway in 1954. He won a second one in 1959 and the a third in 1961, establishing himself as one of the United track’s early stars. He also won the Riverside Park 500 team race in 1958 with Jocko Maggiacomo and 1967 with Buddy Krebs.

Jerry was also responsible for producing the first weekly race programs at Riverside Park and the Eastern States Exposition events.

Jerry retired from racing relocated to Florida in 1976. He passed away on December 17, 2003 after a long illness. He was 76 years old.
