Mike Ordway from Fremont, NH grew up dreaming of being a racecar driver. As a kid, while his dad worked on super modified teams at Star Speedway, Mike idolized Ollie Silva. His racing career started at Star Speedway in the modified division in 1980, but the track soon dissolved the division and he moved to the super modifieds. He found success relatively quickly, winning the Star Speedway Super Modified championship in 1984 driving his own car.

He drove a few years for Clyde Booth, just missing the Oswego track championship in 1988. He then drove for Ron Graves for 3 years, winning the Oswego track championship together in 1991. They finished a close second to Russ Wood for the ISMA championship that same year.

He first started driving for Paul Dunigan at Lee USA Speedway in 1993 as a teammate to Bentley Warren. He won the Oktoberfest event that season. Mike would become a two-time ISMA Super Modified Champion (1995, 1998) driving for Dunigan. They also won the Star Speedway Classic in 1998. Ordway also won the prestigious Oswego Classic race in 2003.

During his career, Ordway earned 36 ISMA races. Overall, he visited victory lane 90 at 18 different tracks between 1982 and 2012. Other New England tracks where he earned feature wins include Oxford Plains Speedway, Riverside Park Speedway, Seekonk Speedway, Stafford Speedway and Thompson Speedway.
