Andy Santerre is one of the few New Englanders to have earned measurable success in the national leagues of NASCAR, but his is best known for his efforts in the Northeast.

Just two years after lying temporarily paralyzed in a hospital bed at age 19, he was the 1990 champion at Speedway 95. He dominated Pro Stock races in Maine before becoming the 1993 NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year. He won another rookie crown on the NASCAR Busch (now Xfinity) Series in 1998 and rebounded from a broken leg during a terrible crash at Daytona Speedway to win at Pikes Peak in 1999. He returned to the Busch North Series in 2002 and went on to win a record four consecutive series titles and 4 straight Most Popular Driver Awards as well.

He retired soon after, then successfully fostered the careers of several future NASCAR Cup Series starts as a car owner and crew chief. He was eventually hired by the NASCAR Drive for Diversity program and Rev Racing to oversee the development of young talent in NASCAR developmental series.

He finished his career in 2012 with Hattori Racing Enterprises. His career record shows 48 win including 23 in the Busch North Series. He was also named #1 on NASCAR’s list of all-time great drivers in the series’ history in 2011.

During his career, Santerre won at 19 tracks in 10 states, including Adirondack, Holland, Watkins Glen and Spencer speedways in NY, Jennerstown and Lake Erie in PA, Dover Speedway in DE, Seekonk Speedway in MA, Thompson & Stafford Speedways in CT, Motor Mile in VA , New Hampshire International Speedway and in his home state of ME he earned victories at Beech Ridge Speedway, Spud Speedway, Speedway 95, Wiscasset Speedway and Unity Speedway.
