CLASS OF 2017
Bobby Gahan started his racing career in 1967, the season after his father Ernie was crowned NASCAR Modified National Champion. Bobby credits the Don MacTavish Memorial 100 win at Lee Speedway in 1969 as the first big win of his racing career.
He had a dominant run at Beech Ridge Speedway where he won 3 consecutive modified track championships. He won the 1985 title on the dirt track. Beech Ridge was paved prior to the 1986 and Gahan won back-to-back titles on the paved surface (1986-1987), giving Gahan titles on both surfaces at the Maine short track.
In the Pro Stocks, Gahan won track championships at Star Speedway in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2004 and 2007. He won 3 straight track championships at Lee USA Speedway from 1997-1999. He became the all-time winner in the Pro Stock division at both tracks. He also scored championships at Hudson Speedway.
Bobby also won the 1998 New England Region Championship for NASCAR Weekly Racing Series while racing at Lee USA. He won a 1/3 of the Pro Stock events (6 out of 18) and never finished worst than 7th during the season..
Bobby joins his father Ernie as a member of the NEAR Hall of Fame.
