The 1984 Race of Champions and the 1986 Spring Sizzler, one of seven NASCAR Modified Tour wins, head up the list of individual victories for the Ballston Spa, NY driver.

Starting in 1961, he played a key role on the NASCAR Modified scene in the 1970s and 80s. When NASCAR formed the Winston Modified Tour in 1985, Ross had immediate success. He won 7 races and 4 pole awards as a full time competitor during the series first five seasons, He then competed part-time on the Busch North Series from 1992-1996, scoring a win at Holland International Speedway in New York in 1993.

His biggest career wins were the 1984 Race of Champions at Pocono Raceway and the 1986 Stafford Spring Sizzler. In 1984, he won the Modified Championships at both Stafford Speedway and Oswego Speedway in NY. The won 3 more titles at Oswego from 1986-1988.

He won with owners Bob Garbarino, Ed Cloce, Wayne Miller and Jerry Rose as well as in his own equipment. During his career he also visited victory lane at Monadnock Speedway, Seekonk Speedway, Riverside Park Speedway and Thompson Speedway. He also made a handful on Busch Grand National (now Xfinity Series) starts and a pair of NASCAR Cup starts in the early 1990’s.
