A native of Danbury, CT, Drew Fornoro was an established ARDC and TQ winner when he teamed up with legendary car owner Gene Angelillo, getting his first NEMA win in 1981 at Hudson Speedway. He would go on to win at Star Speedway, Riverside Park Speedway, Canaan Fair Speedway, Waterford Speedbowl, Oswego Speedway, Westboro Speedway, Seekonk Speedway and Thompson Speedway. There were 19 different tracks in total where he visited victory lane.

He won 83 NEMA features and 9 series championships (1983, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1992, 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999 – all while driving for Angelillo). Four of those seasons, his brother Nokie was the ARDC midget champion.

He went on to win at least one feature in 21 different seasons, including races co-sanctioned by USAC and ARDC, at 19 different tracks. His last six checkereds came with the Campanale team.

Drew Fornoro passed away on May 1, 2023 from diabetes and chronic kidney disease. He was 72 years old.
