Dick Eagan

Competitor
CLASS OF 2007

Veterans Committee Selection

Dick Eagan came from the post World War II Midgets and was an immediate success in stock cars. He was second in the point standings of Harvey Tattersall Jr‘s United Stock Car Racing Club in 1949.

He made 6 NASCAR Grand National (now Cup Series) races in the early 1950’s, with 3 Top 10’s including a 3rd place finish at Thompson Speedway in 1951.

But it was on dirt where he really shined. He was a dominant force at Stafford Springs in the early 1950s and then took to the road scoring victories from the Carolinas to Canada.

Injuries sustained in a crash at Vernon, NY ended his career.

He passed away a month before his 88th birthday on May 3, 2007
