Edward Everman “Eddie” Casterline was based out of Malden, MA. He would become one of the top drivers from New England during the pre-WWII era racing both midgets and big cars throughout the region.
His first race was at the Readville Race Track in Readville, MA in a big car. 1946 was arguably Casterline’s best season when he won the Bay State Midget Championship with 30 feature wins and 14 runner up finishes.
Sadly, Eddie was killed in a midget crash on June 6th, 1947 at Seekonk Speedway.
He was inducted into the NEAR Hall of Fame in a special Pioneers induction ceremony in 2012.
