Bob Stefanik was one of the stars of Riverside Park during the 1960’s and 1970’s. He began his career there in 1961. He earned 3 straight Sportsman Championships (1966-1968) before moving up to the Modified ranks, quickly establishing himself in the Czarnecki #20. He quickly became the guy to beat in the headlining division, winning the Modified Championship in 1970, 1971 and 1973. He scored 37 wins at the track between the Novice, Sportsman and Modified divisions.
He also won the prestigious Riverside Park 500 team race 3 times during his career. He won twice with Billy Greco as his teammate (1969, 1972) and then a third time with Geoff Bodine in 1977.
He also ran strong at Stafford Speedway, Thompson Speedway and Westboro Speedway during his career. Stefanik passed away on October 15, 1984. He was only a few weeks shy of his 42nd birthday.
