Kenny Tremont Jr is one of the most accomplished dirt racers that New England has ever produced. He started out as a teenager in 1979, when he won Rookie of the Year at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in VT. It wasn’t until 1982 however when he won his first race there, which came on opening night and just 24 hours after winning his first race at Lebanon Valley Speedway in NY.
Driving his father’s iconic #115 cars, Tremont would go on to win 11 races at Devil’s Bowl over a 3-year span, including the 1984 Big Block Modified Championship. The team left Devil’s Bowl after the ’84 season to chase DIRTcar sanctioned point, before returning in 1996. He would go on to win 9 more championships at the VT oval. Five 358 Modified Championships (2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010) and two Sportsman Modified Championships (2018, 2019) on the half-mile oval, and two Sportsman Modified Championships on the 3/10 mile dirt track (2015, 2017). He has 41 career wins at Devil’s Bowl.
Tremont also won on both surfaces at the Canaan Fair Speedway, 2003 on dirt and 2013 on asphalt.
Tremont won an amazing 13 Modified and 4 Small Block Championships at Lebanon Valley Speedway, 13 Modified Championships at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, plus track titles at New Venture Speedway, Rolling Wheels Speedway, Glen Ridge Motorsports Park, Utica-Rome Speedway, Weedsport Speedway and Cayuga County Fairgrounds. Kenny also has two overall CVRA Championships and two Mr. DIRT 358 series titles.
On the DIRTcar circuit driving both Big Block and Small Block Modifieds, Kenny won a reported 300 feature races during his career including over 80 at both at Lebanon Valley and at Albany-Saratoga.
He has competed at 33 different tracks along the east coast from Canada to Florida. He was the recipient of the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York State Stock Car Racing Association and was inducted into the Northeast Dirt Modified Hall of Fame in 2018.
