Stan Meserve
Competitor, Car Owner
CLASS OF 2013
A true “Mainer,” the Sidney native has excelled on a number of levels not the least of which is driver/car owner.
His 1968 effort as an independent on NASCAR’s Grand National circuit is now legendary.
Starting at Unity Raceway in 1965, he has a host of victories including a pair of Getty Opens and championships at four different Pine Tree State Ovals – Unity Speedway, Speedway 95, Wiscasset Speedway (1975 Sportsman Championship & 1995 Pro Stock Championship) and Oxford Plains Speedway (1998 Pro Stock Championship). His last win was a 100 lapper at Wiscasset in 1997.
After retiring from NASCAR, Meserve founded Distance Racing Products in 1983, a company that specialized in fabricating race cars and selling products to drivers throughout the northeastern United States.
He has been an official for NASCAR North and ACT, a successful chassis builder, a team manager/crew chief (Ricky Craven, Andy Santerre, Dale Earnhardt, Inc), even a magazine publisher in his long service to the sport.
He has also been inducted to the Maine Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Wiscasset Speedway Hall of Fame class of 2020
