Russ Stoehr is one of the most accomplished drivers in the history of the Northeastern Midget Association. He won the NEMA championship 6 times (1990, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2010) driving for Bruce & Ann Beane and later Gene Angelillo.
Stoehr has over 50 NEMA career wins and led the series in wins 5 times. He won a race in 17 different seasons, including 10 straight from 1993-2002. He was the inaugural winner of the Boston Louie Memorial race in 1997. His last win came in 2015. He was a 2-time recipient of the Evans/Thrall Award as the top owner/driver in 1999 and 2011.
Stoehr won throughout New England during his career, including trips to victory lane Beech Ridge Speedway, Hudson Speedway, Lee USA Speedway, Monadnock Speedway, Waterford Speedbowl, Oxford Plains Speedway, Seekonk Speedway, Stafford Speedway, Star Speedway, Thompson Speedway and Thunder Road Speed Bowl. Outside of New England, he also won at Flemington Speedway, Fonda Speedway and Oswego Speedway.
He continued as a car owner with his son Avery and the likes of Jimmy Zacharias winning in his cars. Russ also served as NEMA President in 2015-2016.
