Bob Webber

Track Owner, Promoter
CLASS OF 2019

A promoter who cared for fans & racers equally, Bob Webber guided both Star Speedway and Hudson Speedway through lean times & rapid growth.

He bought Star from Charlie Elliott, Kenny Smith & Russ Conway in 1983 and the acquired Hudson in 1989. He kept the traditional Star Classic as an annual marquee event on the calendar. He also created the Halloween Howler enduro event which became a wildly popular late-October tradition.

Webber is credited with saving weekly Super Modified racing by creating the 350 class. He also mediated the talks that help the NEMA Midgets survive through challenging times. He developed cost-cutting rules for Pro Stocks and created the successful Outlaw class at Hudson with just 5 simple rules.

Bob Webber Sr passed away peacefully on January 26, 2018 at the age of 70.
