Ric Mariscal

Historian, Curator
CLASS OF 2019

Ric’s love of racing began in the 1950’s at the Lonsdale Sports Arena and continues today. He formed Back Yard Enterprises as a teenager and spent time as a road racer.

Legendary car owner Lenny Boehler had him pilot one of his “Ole Blue” #3 coupes at the 1983 Spring Sizzler and his love for preserving history took off from there. He eventually bought the car from Boehler, and over the next two decades grew a massive collection of racing memorabilia.

He formed Pronyne Motorsports Group and eventually bought a 7200 sq ft, 100 year old house in Pawcatuck, RI to house the growing trove of archives as the Pronyne Motorsports Museum, the first museum in New England dedicated to auto racing.

In addition to the Boehler coupe, other vintage cars at ProNyne include the Sonny Koszela “Woodchopper Special” #15 coupe that Bugsy Stevens drove in the 1970’s, a white Vega-bodied version of Boehler’s Ole Blue, an early Pro-4 Mini Modifieds of Ray Grennan and Dan Meservey, a couple of Daring Dick Caso’s #86 cars, Stosh Miejewski’s iconic L&M coupe and Paul Tremaine‘s familiar AMC Gremlin for his Checkered Flag Announcer.

Ric was the recipient of the Charlie Stebbins Award in 2006, the Dan Pardi Award in 2018 and the Frank Maratta Award in 2022.
