Robert “Dick” Wolstenhulme was a legend at Beech Ridge Speedway. He earned an incredible 10 track championships during his career. They include 4 straight Class B titles (1960-1963) then 3 more in 1966, 1967 and 1971. He also won the Class A title in 1966 to become of the first driver in track history to win championships in two divisions in the same season. He accomplished the rare feat again in 1974 winning both the super modified and late model championships.

One afternoon in 1967, Beech Ridge had scheduled two 75-lap Class A races and two 50-lap Class B races. Wolstenhulme won all four features that day, earning the nickname “The Iron Man”.

In 1983, Dick won a qualifier for a British race in Coventry, England. He was the highest finishing foreigner in the race.

Dick also won races at Oxford Plains Speedway and Arundel Speedway.

He and his wife Phyllis were married for 63 years. Dick passed away on June 14, 2020
