Fred Borden was a Walthom, MA native who began racing at West Peabody Speedway in 1950 and won twice in his rookie season.

He was a dominate force at Westboro Speedway in the 1960’s driving the John Falconi #10 to 5 Class A Championships in a 6 year span (1962-1963, 1965-1967). He was also the track’s career wins leader with 40 feature wins.

In addition to West Peabody and Westboro, he had outstanding seasons at Medford Bowl driving for Sal Pinetta, where he was so successful legend has it the track promoters posted a bounty to any of the competition who could beat him. He also won 2 championships at Brookline Speedway before coming to Norwood in the mid ’50s to drive for Lee Spaulding and eventually Falconi.

Fred eventually retired from racing in 1967 and eventually relocated to Cape Coral, FL. He passed away in October of 2017 at the age of 90.
