Fred Schulz

Fred Schulz was a Mansfield, MA native who raced for over 30 years. He was a frequent winner on the rough & tough 1950’s cutdown era, many coming in the Rufo 53. He also was successful in the Susi Brothers #14. He was the last Modified Champion ever crowned at the famed Norwood Arena in 1969.

With the advent of NASCAR, he continued to win with Susi and the Dickie Mills/Billy Welch #79. The Norwood title came driving for Dick Armstrong. He had several successful seasons with the Tom Dunn T-5, posting five wins enroute to the 1978 Westboro Championship.

Over his career, Schulz also visited at other New England tracks like Thompson Speedway and Lee Speedway.

He passed away in 1999 at the age of 68.
