Jim Moffat was a car owner prior to World War II. He later became a flagger, and a promoter known for open competition events. He was also widely known as an industrial rep for Oilzum Oil.

But it was a the publisher of “Cavalcade of Auto Racing” that Moffat made his biggest contribution to the sport. The Worcester, MA based publication became known for its photo spreads from each track in the northeast.

Originally published once a year in a yearbook style format, Cavalcade become so popular he began publishing multiple issues a year. The popular publication began in the mid-1960’s and continued into the 1980’s.
