Joey Laquerre

Competitor, Car Owner, Track Owner
CLASS OF 2015

Joey Laquerre was a second generation racer from Vermont. He first began racing at Thunder Road Speedbowl and Catamount Stadium during the 1960’s and continued racing into the 2000’s while in his 60’s. He was the 1977 and 1980 Mini Stock Champion at Catamount Stadium. His incredible 1980 season included wins in 11 of the 12 events, including the first 8 races in a row.

Joey raced everything from mini stocks & flying tigers to ACT late models in 1990’s. While in his 60’s, he was still competitive in the Flying Tigers at Thunder Road.

In late 2014, he was the winning bidder at the foreclosure auction of the Riverside Speedway property in Groveton, NH. He renamed it Speedway 51 and successfully upgraded the facility for new generations of racers. He sold the track to the Humphrey family in late 2019, and they in turn renamed it back to the original Riverside Speedway moniker.
