Robbie Crouch was born in Tampa, FL but made his mark in New England racing. He won his first race in 1972 at 20 years old at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in VT. In his early years, he also raced at Thunder Road Speedbowl, Catamount Stadium and Airborne Park Speedway. In 1979, he began racing on the NASCAR North Tour.
During the NASCAR North era from 1979-1985, Crouch won multiple races in every season – with a high mark of 9 wins in 1985 and 38 in total for his career. He finished in the top 2 in points every year from 1980-1985 with back-to-back championships in 1983-1984.
After the 1985 season NASCAR North promoters Ken Squier & Tom Curley parted ways with NASCAR and continued their series as the American-Canadien Tour (ACT) and Crouch remained the top dog of the series, winning 4 of the first 5 championships (1986, 1987, 1988, 1990) under the ACT banner including a 10 win season in 1986 and 11 win season in 1988. His 77 wins between 1979-1995 is the best among drivers on the series.
Nicknamed the Tampa Tornado, Crouch also won the prestigious Milk Bowl at Thunder Road Speedbowl four different times, won the New England 300/Fall Foliage 300 seven times plus three Memorial Day Classic wins, four Vermont Governor’s Cups, and two New Hampshire Governor’s Cups. Over his career he also won track championships at St-Félicien (Québec), Val-Bélair (Québec) and Claremont Speedway. His last career win came in 2008 at Thunder Road.
