Bob Tasca

Car Builder, Car Owner
CLASS OF 2014

A native of Providence, RI, Bob Tasca began his life long relationship with Ford in 1943 working at the local dealership. 10 years later he opened his owned dealership in Bristol, R.I. It was at his next dealership in East Providence that he developed a friendship with legendary car designer Carroll Shelby. Together they assembled the first Cobra engine.

Tasca is credited with helping create the Ford Thunderbolt car and bringing the Cobra Jet 428 engine to NHRA in the 1960’s. It was an engine his dealership built with Ford catalog parts and it was a dominant force on the drag racing circuits.

It was during this success on the track that Tasca became known for his “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday” mantra. His success with his dealerships and customer service led to a 1996 book he wrote called “You Will Be Satisfied”, which remains the slogan of the Tasca dealerships to this day.

Bob passed away on January 8, 2010 at the age of 83 years old. His family continues his dealership operations in New England and his grandson Bob Tasca III is a successful NHRA drag racer.
