Bob Cuneo was a master chassis designer, crew chief and strategist who won on bullrings, superspeedways and road courses during his long career.
Bob was the founder and chief engineer of Chassis Dynamics, focusing on suspension design & development. With partner Bobby Vee, he built countless modified that won races. Geoff Bodine joined in 1979 to develop BoDyne Chassis and “The White Tornado” was born.
Road racing efforts thrived simultaneously, with double-digit championships in ISMA and SCCA, the latter with Paul Newman.
Cuneo joined Bodine again in 1994 on the NASCAR Cup Series, where they won 3 races and 5 pole awards. Cuneo also developed a road course pit strategy that is now standard for NASCAR teams.
Off the pavement, he designed and built bobsleds for the U.S. Olympic team. His bobsleds have won 7 Olympic medals, including the Gold twice.
