Boston Louie Seymour
Car Owner
CLASS OF 2006
“Boston Louie” Seymour was once described as “the man who towed a million miles” by broadcaster Dr. Dick Berggren. For several decades, Seymour towed race cars from his Marlboro, MA home to hundreds of USAC Sprint Car/Silver Crown races all over the country.
His car, driven by Billy Cassella, won the 1976 USAC Silver Crown Championship. It was the first time a New England based team won a USAC championship. He and Cassella were never out of the Top 10 in USAC points from 1973 to 1979.
From Indianapolis to Eldora, OH to Springfield, IL, drivers like Rich Volger, Sheldon Kinser, Doug Wolfgang, and Bentley Warren. have driven his cars. George Snider, Bruce Walkup, and Eddie Leavitt have all won Hulmnan Spring Car Classics at Terre Haute with Seymour’s cars and former NASCAR Cup driver Ken Schrader has driven Boston Louie’s cars to 3 Cooper Classic wins in Phoenix.
Louie Seymour passed away on September 13, 1996. The Boston Louie Memorial race is held in his honor every year (most notably at Seekonk Speedway). It has become the premiere event on NEMA’s schedule every season.
