Ronnie Marvin
Competitor
CLASS OF 2015
Veterans Committee Selection
Few men ever inspired the kind of intimidation as did Ronnie Marvin, a huge logger from Bethlehem, NH. A hulking giant of a man with a menacing scowl, Marvin came upon the New England racing scene at small tracks like Northeastern Speedway in Waterford, VT. He was the Class A Champion at Northeastern in 1961.
Also a strong competitor at Thunder Road Speedway in Barre, VT, Marvin was the 1960 Sportsman Champion during the Barre, VT track’s inaugural season. He was one of the flathead era’s premiere wheelmen.
When Thunder Road phased out the flatheads in 1965, Marvin was still running the flathead Ford competitively against the new NASCAR V-8 sportsman cars. By the late 1960’s he was all but gone from the scene, until he resurfaced in 1971 with a gorgeous Buick late model sportsman. Marvin continued racing through the mid-1980’s. Marvin passed away from cancer soon after.
