Wayne Dion was an expert wheelman in both full-fendered stock cars and open-wheel modifieds, capturing checkered flags throughout his 5 decades on the track.

The Rhode Island native called Seekonk Speedway his home track, where he won 57 feature races. He also won track championships in 3 different divisions: 1974 Street Stock Championship, 1977 Late Model Championship and 1982 Pro Stock Championship.

Dion was also successful at Thompson Speedway, where he earned the 1978 Late Model Championship and the 1985 SNERA Modified Championship. He scored 23 wins at the famed 5/8 mile Connecticut oval.
