Ferrara 100

Frank Ferrara

The Ferrara 100 was an annual Modified race at Stafford Motor Speedway sponsored by Hall of Famer Frank Ferrara. Frank was a Korean War veteran, a former car owner and later Stafford Speedway’s flagman during the 1966 & 1967 seasons. In 1973, he began sponsoring this 100 lap modified race that lasted for 14 seasons.

Many of the modified drivers wanted to win the Ferrara 100 because Frank treated them grandly. Race winners received a tool box full of silver dollars and top 3 finishers received fruit baskets. The popular event was held from 1973 through 1986, the last season the modifieds were a weekly division at Stafford Speedway.

12 of the Ferrara 100 winners are members of the NEAR Hall of Fame, including a record 3 in a row by Ray Miller from 1980-1982. Bugsy Stevens, Brian Ross and Geoff Bodine each won the event twice.
